Software Development Kit (SDK)
JewelSuite™ has been developed using the Microsoft .NET framework. There are a number of advantages of using .NET over other technologies. One of the most important is extensibility. Extensibility allows a software product to be enhanced in various ways by the end user or a 3rd party. Extensibility is a huge advantage to the end user since it allows the addition of significant features without the direct involvement of the original product manufacturer.

To extend a product such as JewelSuite™ using the .NET framework is not automatic. The user must be provided with a set of resources to accomplish this. For JewelSuite™ these resources are the JewelSuite™ Software Development Kit or JSSDK.
The JSSDK has existed in some form since the beginning of JewelSuite™ product development in 2003. It is used extensively by internal developers of the product as they add components and features. Therefore the JSSDK is not a new product, but simply a packaging of thoroughly mature tools and techniques accompanied with new documentation and examples.
