White Paper - AESubs Plug-in
The AESubs Plug-in can be used to quickly calculate subsidence based on the compaction in reservoirs caused from reservoir production. This plug-in is used as an easy and quick way to calculate field subsidence. Due to the total integration of reservoir modeling, all required input data related to the 3D reservoir modeling is already available, especially the changing reservoir pressure calculated by a flow simulator.
The AESubs Plug-In provides the following workflow to quickly calculate the subsidence bowl:
- General Settings - Mohr Coulomb mode, friction coefficient and cohesion
- Subsurface Settings - Subsurface layer definition + properties (e.g. horizontal layers at certain depths with an elasticity profile and stress profile)
- Reservoir Settings --> one or more 3D reservoir model with pressure property
These 3 main inputs are used to
- Calculate the compaction per 3D reservoir model
- Calculate the subsidence bowl based as a result of the compaction
Optionally, additional properties can be calculated at user defined points, for example along a well bore trajectory. These properties are:
- Strains at user defined locations
- Stresses at user defined locations
Displacements at user defined locations
