Time/Depth conversion

Using the Time / Depth Conversion process you can define Velocity Model Definitions and create Velocity Models which can be used to convert time domain based reservoir data to the depth domain.

The Velocity Modeling process in Jewel Suiteā„¢ provides functionality to first define a Velocity Model using time based surfaces as main model interfaces and depth domain based well log markers. By combining these two inputs together with a velocity profile per defined model layer, a 3D Velocity Model can be created. You can also use 2D time horizons and 2D velocity maps to create velocity models.

During this workflow process or when importing time domain based reservoir data, the 3D Velocity Model can be used to perform the time / depth conversion.

Besides a 3D Velocity Model, Jewel Suiteā„¢ also supports uniform time / depth conversion methods like Linear, Quadratic and Cubic.

Example: Velocity Model Definition based on 2 time horizon interfaces and corresponding well logs markers in depth domain. The resulting Velocity Model is used to convert the complete Structural Framework to depth
