Community Involvement:
ZOA
ZOA, an international NGO, operating in more than 10 countries worldwide. ZOA supports (former) refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), returnees and others who are affected by conflict or natural disasters.
Contributing to the building of social structures and the enhancement of social justice and reconciliation forms a major challenge for ZOA. Loyalty to the target group is a fundamental aspect of our approach. We do not only limit our contributions to relief efforts; ZOA also facilitates physical and social rehabilitation, with a development perspective. ZOA thus aims at bridging the gap between relief and constructive development.
During recent years the organization has expanded its activities considerably, as a result of an increase of both institutional and private funds. At the same time ZOA has also further developed its professional standards and defined the strategy for the future. The main focus of this strategy in services and organization are:
- Focus on specific target groups
- Services: Relief and Rehabilitation/Reintegration
- Integral Program Approach
- An optimal mix of locally run and owned operationality
- An integrating role
- Public support for humanitarian aid
- Growth in volume of aid and professionalism
- Active role in alliances and partnerships
- Strengthening the general organizational capabilities
JOA® supports ZOA yearly with different projects.
